Spider Control Elimination & Extermination
Spiders are another annoying pest. There are nearly 37,000 species of spiders worldwide. In North America, we have about 2,500. Spiders belong to a larger group of
animals called Arthropods. Insects have 6 legs, spiders have 8 legs. The best spider control tool is a vacuum. If you want to use an insecticide outside, apply diazinon
completely around foundation walls and adjacent
one foot of soil. Diazinon will also help keep away silverfish, cockroaches, and ants. NEVER use it indoors. Always use proper precaution and follow any label
instructions.
Eugenol oil and plant based pesticides are the best option as well as using a vacuum cleaner for spider elimination and extermination. Spider bites from black widows and brown recluses are extremely dangerous. Black Widow spider antidote or antivenom is usually available in areas where black widows can be found and is available in North Carolina. Brown Recluse antivenom or antidote does not stop necrosis. There is no established treatment for necrosis.
The most dangerous spiders to humans are Brazilian wandering spiders (also called banana spiders), Black Widows, Recluse (also known as fiddle-back or violin spiders), Red Back spiders. Many bites do not result in death, but in necrosis. Necrosis is the premature death of cells and living tissue as seen in the photo below. Snake bites can also cause necrosis.
In North Carolina, the two most prevalent and dangerous spiders are the black widow spider and the brown recluse spider. Both can easily be eliminated with a vacuum cleaner! A wolf spider can easily be confused with a brown recluse, wolf spiders are huge and intimidating but their bites are harmless.
Now, with the scary part out of the way, spiders are good for the environment. They eat Japanese Beetles which are a pain in the butt in the spring/summer.
Spiders such as camel spiders are enormous spiders located in the Middle East. The camel spider stories began to spread during the first Persian Gulf War. Now, with the continued presence of armed U.S. forces in the Middle East, the stories and photographs of camel spiders have become legendary. Many of the stories you read online are completely untrue. These spiders are not typically dangerous to humans, despite their horrifying appearance. There is a poster with that image of the camel spider that says, "CAMEL SPIDERS - If you aren't scared of the desert, you sure the fuck should be." Now you see why you want to Consider Them Gone®.
